Hello and welcome!
I had a dream that I was at the beach, watching the sunrise, drinking coffee, and watching the tide coming in around the sand bar.
Although I would rather still
be at the beach contemplating the inspiration that may let me communicate my thoughts, I have finished my independent study contemplating health care literacy.
Now once again smack in the middle of a cold spell in Pennsylvania I am ready not only to advocate for healthcare literacy, but bring nurses into the dialogue that "connects patients and familites with their health through education".
Nurses are taking on more responsibilities in non-traditional teaching of health care skills. No longer can we just pass out a pamphlet and be done. We have responsibility and accountability to provide our patients and their families with evidenced-based best practices. Nurses might be non-traditional teachers, but healthcare is a non-traditional educational skill.
I dedicate this blog to my colleaques in the nursing profession and my professor @ PSU Dr. Julie
The question STILL IS,"How do we continue to provide equal access and equal opportunities that are individualized in a system that promotes conformity?"
How do we teach the importance of knowing basic spelling and grammar so we can use spell check and grammar check on our computers?
What I am not enjoying this week...!!!
Companies that do not send back ordered items and then do not answer their phones.
Having to be focused on my Master's Production.
Trying to make a 20 page paper into a 20 minute presentation-"just what do I leave out?"
Many thanks and acknowledgement

Technology and Composition
Elitism in the schools and workplace
Even the technology for making the equipment is bypassing our American citizens
What is it we need to read and write that will include us in our society?
HAVE YOU HEARD?
all the news from China about viruses and lack of quality control in the global electronic community
many local governments are setting up web sites-the questions still remain, how will the public access the sites and how can we insure the democracy of literacy for for all our citizens?
TO BE CAREFUL in the items you purchase for you computer
Use your Norton Security (or other) and be careful of hackers' and your personal info
ARE YOU CURIOUS?
In the 1600's Blaise Pascal and his early machine for calculations followed the even earlier abacus as the beginning of the binary concepts that enabled the development of computers.
